Robert Altman, one of the most adventurous and influential American directors of the late 20th century, a filmmaker whose iconoclastic career spanned more than five decades but whose stamp was felt most forcefully in one, the 1970s, died Monday in Los Angeles. Short cuts was a better film than Crash. And I enjoyed Gosford Park very much. Suddenly have the urge to go find my copy of Nashville and Mash.

Some of the best films in the 70's were his: Mash, Brewster McCloud, McCabe and Mrs. Miller and then after what seemed to be a long hiatus, Vincent & Theo and The Player. I'd love to have a dvd of Brewster and Vincent & Theo, my all-time Altman favorites.
I read an article about how he was bashing the western genre with McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Haven't seen it yet, nor Brewster. Will have to do some Amazon shopping! Thanks for visiting the site socky
