TS Eliot's Prufock and Other Observations

Friend K put up the quiz on Multiply, but for some reason the format doesn't care to gel on my site there. I've moved it here instead. After checking on the poems listed online, I find an interesting link. I wrote about a friend's christmas party event on December 13, 2006, as they were going to do a tribute to CATS, the musical. One of the poems that influenced the song "Memory" from that show is in PRUFROCK (Preludes). Maybe the quiz knows more than I could have guessed. But I still contend I'm not that short!

You're Prufrock and Other Observations!

by T.S. Eliot

Though you are very short and often overshadowed, your voice is poetic
and lyrical. Dark and brooding, you see the world as a hopeless effort of people trying
to impress other people. Though you make reference to almost everything, you've really
heard enough about Michelangelo. You measure out your life with coffee spoons.

"You're Love in the Time of Cholera!
by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Like Odysseus in a work of Homer, you demonstrate undying loyalty by sleeping with as many people as you possibly can. But in your heart you never give consent! This creates a strange quandary of what love really means to you. On the one hand, you've loved the same person your whole life, but on the other, your actions barely speak to this fact. Whatever you do, stick to bottled water. The other stuff could get you killed."

That was fun. I'm a big GGM fan so this really came as no surprise. :)

You're One Hundred Years of Solitude!
by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Lonely and struggling, you've been around for a very long time. Conflict has filled most of your life and torn apart nearly everyone you know. Yet there is something majestic and even epic about your presence in the world. You love life all the more for having seen its decimation. After all, it takes a village.

Hey Nens, I'm GGM too :) What an interesting quiz...

I actually like Garcia Marquez more than Irving, but I couldn't deny my description was uncanny. ;-)

"On the one hand, you've loved the same person your whole life, but on the other, your actions barely speak to this fact." Oohh...Nena...you have still to tell me all about that unrequited love of yours who you pointed out last week! ;-)
